    Old guy in the PaNW

    Howdy,

I'm a Scoutmaster for a brand new Scout troop outside of Seattle (Duvall, WA). Wanting to get back off the ground so I of course eventually found my way here.

I spent the better part of 3 months up in the air (on and off) in an old jungle hammock while in Africa. It followed me to the Amazon for a bit (but spent more time on the ground.

I've enjoyed the input from folks on the threads for noobs. I've got a nice 10 x 10 silnylon tarp, a few closed cell and inflateable pads. Looking to upgrade from my Army hammock.

Any suggestions on a good starter (bug net optional) that is double layered would be appreciated. I'm leaning toward getting a Warbonnet without the net (but would like one for a camping trip in 2 weeks). Don't want to go crazy on gear straight out. Would like simple, relatively cheap options that I can use (while it's still down in the 30's at night) up here with all the trees.

    Can't wait for the advice.

    Jamey

I should also mention I'm something of a knot and lashing freak.

    Welcome to the forums.

I see you are a Scoutmaster. Right now on the forums a new hammock patch has been created and they are taking orders in the below thread. I may be something you want to look into for your troop.
