Opinions regarding storing TQ and UQ in the same stuff sack while backpacking?
i do it this way when i use a stuff sack... sometimes i just stuff them in my pack without one
sometimes i use 2 ....
don't really matter as long as there in there
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold
If using a conventional stuff sack, I don't think it matters. However, if using roll-top dry bags, two would give you more packing flexibility. The dry bags are more like fixed, rigid objects. Usually, it's better to have two of these unless one big one fits perfectly into your size backpack.

I like using 2. Avoid the 'all your eggs in one basket' situation.
I ride a recumbent.
I like to HAM it up on the CW.
I use Linux.
I play go.
Of course I sleep in a hammock!

I started out with the two the UQ's came in. Then went to two cuben stuff sacks to save a little weight and now I use a single REI compressor sack for both. weights 3 oz more but much smaller package.
Amazing how much space this saves in the pack. It's my most common way of carrying my quilts too.
One bag with two quilts in it is probably going to be a substantial mass; a big, hard lump. I wouldn't want to try to pack around something like that in my pack. Course, YMMV.
Trust nobody!
Depends on the quilts, pack and trip but I usually end up with them in a stuff sack or just loose in the bottom of my pack...if in a stuff sack its one of the Attack Packs so that it can do more than one job. Means it weighs more than a stuff sack alone but I almost always day hike out of camp.

If I'm out for more than 1 night Ive started leaving my uq attached to my hammock and packing them together in the same sack. Usually I'll pack my uq into my sleeping bags stuffsack. It gets a bit tight but fits the bottom width of my pack almost exactly.
In Scotland I was packing everything into separate drybags. The wet ain't such a worry here.
Been thinking about buying a large cuben stuffsack, that way I could pack my quilts and spare clothes all in one loose bundle.
Just Stuff'em. They pack well into the nooks and crannies around my clothes bag and neck pillow.
