Last Minute Decision: A Final Voyage

At about 11pm tonight, I decided to take my Byrd Moskito Traveler out one last time, since my WBBB should be here sometime next week. With newly acquired alcohol and wood stoves, freshly made Whoopie Slings and Nacrabiners, and overnight lows to 37, I couldn't pass it up. A trip to Walmart first, and I am now packed up, and finally ready to head out (at 3:30 am). I will be using a North Face 20 degree bag and Walmart pad, with optional fleece blanket as my insulation. I'm bringing my camera to snap some shots in the morning. This is what the cool kids do on a Friday night in college. Report coming tomorrow!

Alright! Had a pretty good night. Brought a cheapo poly tarp with me, but didn't need it due to clear skies. Call me risky. I had my North Face Cat's Meow 20 degree bag and a Walmart CCF pad under me. I was toasty in the overnight low of 39*. I went to bed with the zipper open and both arms out of the bag. At one point throughout the night, my butt shifted off the pad and got a little cold, so I readjusted and zipped up and was as warm as can be. The bag was a bit overkill, definitely, but whatever. Also, my Whoopie Slings didn't do me much good since the trees I picked were too close! I hung the Nacrabiners straight off the webbing, and that gave me a good hang. I would have picked a better site, but I was basically in marsh, and I just felt like getting to bed. I was woken up at 9am to some geese honking about 30 feet away from me, but I slept like a rock. Definitely missed my hammock, and I think it was a good way to say goodbye.

I'm drawn to the open country. Its where the world makes the most sense. When I put myself out there I always return with something new.
