The only cons I can think of are places without trees and times where you want to be close to that certain someone.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?

I still tent camp when my wife goes with me. She is a VERY cold sleeper and uses me for warmth in cold conditions . She wants to try a hammock but I know it will have to be a very warm night or she is going to miserable.

Give her a hot water bottle or two...that might help convince her.

Of course, my wife won't hammock at all whether she's warm or not. But she only rarely goes camping with me anyway. I suspect that when she does, it's just so she can make me go shopping with her next time. Shopping is about the worst thing I can think of (unless it's for hiking gear).

But yeah - friendly relations is one place where ground-sleeping has hammocks beat.

And I guess staying warm in the cold takes some learning and experimenting, but once you get it figured out it's not really a drawback.
