Is the Yeti's shock cord supposed to be assaulting my head and face when I am in the hammock? I can't seem to get this thing right, the shock cord is pulled so tight and when I lay on a diagonal I can feel the shock cord pressing in to the top of my head or it rolls over and then assaults my face.
Any advice?

I'm no expert on the subject but I think you have the live yeti version, did you feed it after midnight, if so that may be why it's attacking you
on a serious note NO it's no supposed to be trying to kill you, try loosening it, A LOT, your supposed to just snug it up to the hammock to prevent air drafts from, drafting

But there is no "loosening" it's just one loop of shock cord, and I am using a WBBB so I assume that it supposed to be the proper length.on a serious note NO it's no supposed to be trying to kill you, try loosening it, A LOT, your supposed to just snug it up to the hammock to prevent air drafts from

The length should be adjustable. At least it is on my original synthetic version from a couple of( or 3) years back.
However, mine works better when it is pretty tight, tight enough to lift the empty hammock 2 or 3 feet. And the "hitting your head" thing can be a hassle. I can usually get around it by paying close attention to how it fits at my shoulder- further up or down can make a dif, though too far towards the head end will cause a gap and cold. The other thing is changing the angle of the shockcord on the left, so that it goes up more steeply towards the ridge line. You will probably have to rig up some minor mod to do this, so that the shock cord has something to clip to between your head and the hammock end knots. But another benefit, for me, is this also makes the UQ stay put better and gets a better seal with less tightness required.
Mine does this too... I usually just throw a pillow on top of the shock cord to keep it off my face.
They are no longer adjustable. I don't think they have been since he started offering the down versions instead of the synthetic. I like my adjustable Yeti too! You could always make it adjustable. Just need some shockcord and a STRONG cord lock.

Oh yeah, I forgot that ultra-simple cure, actually the one I use most often. Thanks for posting that!
Also, I sometimes put the edge of the pillow UNDER the left shock cord. You wouldn't think that would help much with keeping the cord off of my head, but it does seem to. And, it keeps the quilt from moving up too far, and keeps the pillow from pushing down on the shock-cord, either maybe causing a gap.
