    Hello from Scotland....

    Hello

I'll be lurking around looking at the different ways people have found to set up their hammocks... I've already found that there are a lot of different ideas.

Here are a couple of my set ups from a recent trip....

I like to set my tarp high if the winds are light as it lets me have a fire underneath it if it rains.

I am reconsidering the diamond tarp pitch though....

Anyway.. glad to have found a place full of like minded hangers.

    Cheers.

    Welcome mate,
I have an Ogee tarp, which is a modified diamond tarp and love the open-ness and speed of setup that the diamond design has to offer.

And let's not forget the importance of a wee dram of your favorite toddie after the sharps have been put away.

    Thanks for the welcome.

I switched from 1" kevlar webbing and stainless shackles to polyester 1.5 ton tie down straps and stainless rings for my suspension.

The rings are rated at 1600 kilos and were less than a buck a piece.

I'm looking for lighter webbing but with similar low stretch properties.

I tried polypropylene webbing in the early days... but it had too much stretch.. which could have been due to the type of weave.

1" seatbelt type webbing would be ideal... if it was rated at 1000 kilos or so.

I suppose this is how it begins.
