YouTube - Eagle Peak Meadow 2011
A short video showing our overnight trip from Yosemite Valley to Eagle Peak Meadow. We took the Upper Yosemite Falls trail along with hundreds of t-shirt and shorts wearing visitors on a very sunny and dusty trail. 20 yards past the path to the falls the snow was 3-7 feet deep and we saw only three people over the next 20 hours. There were no trail markings so we had to use a Garmin 305 watch (which shows long/lat) and map and compass to find our way. Each member of our party used a different shelter to product from the falling snow, rain and hail. We used a snow trench, a hammock (Warbonnet Blackbird) and a tent. The temperature was in the high 20s overnight and the hammock was very warm. I used a Marmot Never Summer 0 degree bag on top and a Yeti underquilt below. We used an esee-6 with my custom cocobolo scales to help make firewood out of dead and fallen wood. A MSR Dragonfly is shown melting snow.
The video ends with a dramatic view over the falls! Thanks for watching!
