    Score one for a pad

Spent a short weekend in Yosemite, in the cold and rain. It was my inaugural hang.

I was outfitted with a HH Expedition, an old Campmor 30F down bag, and a blue CCF pad. It got down to ~35F and I was almost great. I did have a problem of sliding down the pad and having cold feet when I woke up . It could be better wider in the shoulders though, I roll over a couple times a night. And because this is the pad forum, I'll leave it at that. However, there might be an UQ next month for the Tahoe section of the PCT if there's still snow on the ground...

That's good to know (seeing as this is the setup I currently have). I'm from the Fresno area just down the mountain a couple of hours from where you were. That must have been QUITE the adventure! We got absolutely pounded Sunday evening, and the kids went to bed with the blinds open to watch the "fireworks." Glad you made it in one piece, and that you were able to stay warm
You're gonna need a bigger hammock

The blue pads tend to be the worst for staying put and being stiff. Incorporating an SPE helps overcome the sliding somewhat and also provides shoulder coverage.
While I do have some down UQ's, I still break out my SPE and pads when I know I'll be in cold wet areas. (Pads don't care if a cold wet rolling fog or sideways mist shows up.)

Another option to overcome the cold foot problem is to just throw your pack or something from your pack under them. Your solution is there, and you're already carrying it.
