Belly button lint smells awful. Like my stomach is churning just thinking about it. Thats got to be the most overlooked placed while in the shower getting clean.

I watched a lady spin yarn at the Highlands Festival one year out of her Afghan Hound's fur. I was fascinated. She had beautiful knitted items made from it. In ancient times all sorts of things were spun into yarn even flax. I see nothing wrong with it and why would it be any different than angora, sheep or even hides like rabbit or fox. I have a mink Stole that was my Mother's and a Mouton Coat that is sooooo Warm. Sailors would even carry a lock of hair from their sweethearts in the old days to keep them safe and guide them home. And how about a lucky rabbits foot!
To make a quilt though? I have to agree it would probably be heavy. But I'd like to see the results of that if anyone tries it.

Dog-hair fabric is called chiengora. Here's a link (disclaimer: I have no connection to this site, but I do have a husky, and we have a big bag of shed hair, but haven't done anything with it. Yet):

80% warmer than wool ehh.
I'm 100% positive I can find someone on Etsy to knit me a beanie or something if i send them some of that.
It would be kind of neat.
And since its not 'my' dog, not creepy.
Wonder what my dog would think of it.
After trying to explain the fancy properties of my possum down beanie it became forever referred to as my 'magic possum scrotum hat', so I can just imagine if I show up wearing dog hair.
This page talks about cleaning (and spinning yarn).
