    Calf Squeeze

Ok, I have looked on the forum and I have not found an answer to this question. Does anyone else experience calf squeeze (presser) in there WBBB. I got mine about one month ago and have spent countless times in the yard and two night out backpacking. How do you get rid of the squeeze? I know it can be done, I just don't know how. Any tips. It's my left leg by the way.

    you can try:

making sure the foot end is higher by a noticeable amount

lay more toward the head end

move your torso slightly closer to center (more space between left shoulder and zipper)

This comes up a bit..... try to put your suspension up higher on the tree. Lots of folks on here put a stuff sack under their knees to relieve. Maybe raise the foot-end higher than the head.

    Best to you.

I have had decent success with a stuff sack under my knees.

It is probably the most common complaint/drawback about gathered end( or non-bridge) hammocks in general, and WB is no exception. There are quite a few threads about this subject. For example:
    http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=31443

    http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=31425

    http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=29479

    http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=28931

    http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=27387

That should keep you busy, these are BB specific, plus there is about a million other posts about calf pressure in non-bridge hammocks. Probably the vast majority of commercial non-bridge hammocks have this problem at least for a lot of folks. ( I think the longer commercial and DIY hammocks are less likely to have the problem) But some hammocks no doubt have it much worse than others. Also, some people ( like me ) seem to have trouble with this a lot more than other folks do.

Except possibly for the HH Safari, the only hammock I have found that is- for me- 100% free of this problem ( or any knee/leg related problem) 100% of the time is a bridge hammock, specifically the JRB BMBH- though it may have a few of it's own issues. Some others have very little, at least most of the time. But it only takes a tiny bit of this pressure ( and/or knee hyper-extension) to ruin an otherwise glorious nights sleep. So I suggest you just plan to put some thing soft and a few inches thick( IOW something like a small pillow/stuff sack) under your knees and be done with it, though some folks (not me) are able to solve the problem by experimenting with ridge line tension, and/or the tricks WBG mentions.

Foot end 6" to 8" above head end.

At least 30 degrees of suspension angle with a relatively loose ridge line.

Shorten up ridge line 1" to 2". I use a knot bone and just wrap 3 to 4 wraps around the bone. No cutting or drastic mod needed.

Tinkering around with these ideas I can get rid of almost all of the calf squeeze.

As you can see, it appears that you just have to keep on experimenting until you find the solution - or not. Hammocks aren't for everybody, at least that's what I've read here and there. So... to add to the mix, I've discovered that my calf issues with the WBBB seem to disappear when I hang the hammock with the ridgeline tight

how 'bout completely avoiding the footbox and just laying on the other diagonal? or, put a pillow under your knees.
