    Question: tight hammock

i have recently finished my first diy hammock (gathered end) and have noticed that when i attempt to lay like a banana the hammock seems to have a very tight ridge that runs from the center of the gather to the other center of the gather. when i lay on the diagnonal i have not problems. i was just wondering what if this ridge is from and how to fix it? thanks for the info.

It's most likely the way you have the ends gathered, or possibly you're hanging it too tight. I get it a little on my DIY, and if I put more sag in it, it gets better. Still there, but better enough that I can be lazy & not rewhip.

The best way to fix it is to lie on the diagonal. That's the best position for most gathered ends anyway. Problem solved.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Sounds like a great plan - The goal is to hand loose, and let the fabric allow you prod it easily in a diagonal direction. Whipping is key, and also where your weight is placed. You can flatten a peak sometimes by shifting weight on it.
