So I was wondering what where the benefits of adding a pocket to the hammock body vs Ridgeline organizers?

honestly until the other day I hadnt seen a pocket sewn into the hammock. im def not an expert but all I could assume is that enough weight would make the hammock lean in that direction but then again I have no way of knowing that. if I made a gathered end Id add a pocket though
I have both and prefer a RL organizer. It's just easier for me to reach up and grab or stow my small stuff. I've also tried a peakbag. They work great for spare clothing since you also have a pillow.
hth
When in my Clark NX250 I use all three. Pocket get coat and shoes Peak bag extra clothing as pillow Ridge Line Organizer for the little luxuries in life book, light, knife, bottle, blah blah or yada, yada, I not sure what goes with hammocks better. In my other hammocks no bottom pockets so I added a pouch/stuff sack sewn into the edge seam just north of the middle point for easy/lazy access. On a different note make snake skins for every thing you can.
Whether trail or paddle don't you know
My hammock is the way to go
There peace and solitude I find
To ease all troubles from my mind
Both body and soul revel in delight
As day surrenders to inky night
I have neither but see the benefits to both.
A ridgline organizer would be good when going to bed, but may get in the way when using the hammock as a chair. (I guess the organizer can just slide to one end out of the way)
I dont think weight would affect the hammock. Pretty light keys, wallet, watch, flashlight.
Hammock pockets of the right size will hold a beer when you are not camping, but just "Chillin"
I have a lot of hammocks with built-in pockets, used to stuff the hammock between uses (Grand Trunk is one brand that does this). I've stuffed flashlights and other items in there on occasion, but it's kind of a pain to get stuff in/out and it does drag the side a bit.

I like ridgeline organizers and peak bags better than pockets sewn onto the hammock. Pockets sewn onto the edge of the hammock can cause it to sag if you put a water bottle in it...good for smaller stuff though, I guess.
The Blackbird shelf is a nice hybrid...don't affect the hammock much (hardly at all if you use the tie-outs, but I don't use them) and easy to get to everything.

IMPOSSIBLE JUST TAKES LONGER
JustJeff beat me to the punch +1 on what he said. For mobility, the ridgeline organizer is great, especially if you make it in a loop fashion (one long tunnel pocket between each side. PapaSmurf's peak bag is great too... just make one on Friday with a little advice from him.
I have made the DIY WBBB with the shelf, and it is great... a little advanced in hammock making, but the shelf is great, and you can make it as wide and deep as you want.
