    First attempt

As you can see I tryed to follow the directions from the other post on the brummel knot. I don't think it looks as good as the others not sure what I did wrong. i have about 6 inches threw itself and wonder how do you finish the end after you get the tail threw? Just cut the extra and tuck it in?

tritan...your picture # 2011-05-23_22-30-16_625 on Flicker, shows that the buried portion exited the constrictor too soon. You need to exit an inch or two farther down (the constrictor will still be bunched up) so that the constrictor can be milked down and completely bury the end. Just pull the loose end out a little, cut the excess off and milk the constrictor down to hide the end inside of it.

I didn't realize the last 2 pictures were missing from Opie's tutorial that I linked. Sorry

So cutting the end and milking it down will hide it? I cut 4 inches off the loose end after it exited the rope. I was also lost on how far down from one loop to make the 2nd loop as the picture tutorial shows a short rope not countious and no measurement to go by I winged it.

I'm not sure what you are talking about here. If your are making a continuous ridgeline, the hook will be attached on one end of the line with a fixed eye (locked brummel) just like the eye on a whoopie sling or many other applications.

Use the dimensions and directions in the video SpaceCadet linked to in his post #100.

It also looks like you passed the line through itself incorrectly when you formed the eye. I think you passed the short end through the long end twice. You need to pass the short end through the long end and then pass the long end through the short end to form the lock. Go back and watch the video again.

Man oh man, I thought I could hold back. The Dutch has gotten creative again, and I just HAD to HAVE the DUTCH HOOKS. Oh well! Just placed my order in (before five pm), and am watching the mailbox this evening. Beats Dancing w/ Stars / Ophrahhh. Come on now.
