Whats the best inflatable pillow? Where's the best place to get one? I'd like to try one but I don't want total junk, otherwise I'd use a gallon-size ziplock.

===> I use a small camping pillow I picked-up at a campground in New Hampshire last year. Synthetic fill, but really nice and soft, about 10X12. I just toss it in the hammock, and use it as needed during the night - from under my neck on a back lie, to under my head/face on a side lie. Yesterday, I even put it under my knees for a while.

Biggest problem you have is pads in a hammock always slip try haging the head end slightly high and go with an underquilt. I have foundhat eno pro straps give me plenty of adjusments to gain tenstion on my hang. Some prefer more sag but I need a tauht hang due to my size and the different sleeping angles that I prefer to each his own. Everybody has preferences in a matress same as a hammock. play with it alot and fid out what works then adjust it differently each time you hang depending on the conditions of wher you are hanging
As far as a pillow goes just use a fleece shirt that you dont sleep in. This way you can adjust where and how high it is comfortable. In cooler weather it also becomes your head insulation with an adjustment of the air hole. I tried using pillows and found them either to high or under my butt in the middle of the night. Try hanging the hammock with different tension and definitely keep the foot end higher or your torso will slide to the center and your feet will be up in the air past the insulation. When you think about it, even when sleeping on the ground there are good nights and bad. Same is true with hammocks. There are times I'm not always comfortable (dare I say that)
In total agreement with everyone else, you just have to keep at it.
I remember the first time I tried to do a night's sleep in a mummy bag fully zipped up. I just couldn't get settled in no matter what. So I just kept trying to take short naps in it, which worked in the end.
I had almost the same issue with hammocking, but even tough nights in a hammock are more comfy to me than one on the ground.
how do you get the forest ready for the party?
...you spruce it up!
dla -- are you going to the OregonHang'2011? I ask, because I have a nearly new WBBB, too, and we could trade setup secrets. Heh heh.
I use a synthetic stuffed pillow, too. I initially started using it for extra insulation around my neck and head, but now I just like having a soft pillow to rest my head on.
I'll third (...or fourth or fifth) the tweaking until you dial it in comments above. For me, that's the fun part. It takes a bit of finagling to get to the optimal "sweet spot" and each hammock is different. What works for one hammock style, may not work for another. Even if they are the same make and brand, the "sweet spot" might be slightly different.
I also highly recommend spending a few nights in a row in your hammock, if you can. I did a five night stretch with my BMBridge just after I got it and it really helped me get acclimated to sleeping in "the ham-mock." Now, getting comfy seems to come a little easier to me.
