HamMike, I'm glad you can make it for memorial day weekend. I wish I could make it out to east fork the 13-15 too at east fork. I've yet to check that place out yet. Any ideas where we should go for memorial day weekend? Wildcat? It seemed to have plenty of hang oppurtunitys. Does anyone know if there's water to be had along the trail? I'm open to any trail though.
if its memorial weekend, i could be in too!
I could be in on Memorial Day weekend. It would be a great warm-up to the trip to the BWCA on June 4, 2011. Where is Wildcat though?
wildcat is in southeastern ohio. Its just south of new lexington/sommerset. The closest town is Corning (whihc is home to some GREAT deli/trail sandwiches that are cheap. (its the only gas station in town too. There is no water there, but a large abundance of pines to hang in and only a half mile walk from the cars.
Glad you could be able to make it big papi, I was hoping you could. Dbasi, I'm guessing its around an hour from newark, maybe a little more. If we do wildcat do you guys want to do the same camp as we did last time? Either way I'd like to get some hiking done, so if that's the case ill probably park off that forest road and cache some stuff at camp and maybe do the big loop and make my way back. Unless you guys want to hike then hang somewhere along the trail?
I'm still up for suggestions though. Does anyone else want to go elsewhere?
there are several areas off the forest road. if memory serves me correct, once you go down the road and pick up the trail to the right, there is also some pines along the trail. Either way, I am bringing a folding chair this time for the fire. That way i won't crash out so early.
hey uprising, i heard you stopped in and met my buddy brian at the westerville outdoor source. He is good people.
If we camp at that spot. I too will bring a folding chair, haha. and extra tarp for a hangout area if it rains.
Yes I did meet brian. He seems like an awesome guy. He made an order to snow peak just to get me some hot lips, haha. Talk about customer service. The one in new albany is closer to me but I won't go there anymore. Weak customer service and the guys I spoke to did not know a lot.
I have never did an "organized" group hang. What are some of the etiquette/rules that go along with a group hang? In particular, families - what age is appropriate?
We have a group of families that go camping every once in awhile and I think this might be a good trip with some of my children if age is appropriate.
I'm checking with Smurfette to see what family obligations I have on Monday.
(In other words, "Can I stay out past Sunday? Please, please, pretty please?")
