    Best Backpacking/Hiking Website?

I am wondering what site(s) everyone uses for their other backpacking information needs. I'm thinking either another forum site or just a resource site for trails and hikes and whatnot. I'd prefer something free, but if there is something definitely worth the fee, I'll consider it. Thank you!

I've looked around the net, but always find that HF is my Go To online community/place. The helpfulness and resourcefulness among members found here, make it a very "complete" site for me.

And almost every time i goggle something hiking/camping related - HF shows up on the first 5 or so hits

I don't know if you have tried this site or not. If not this will get you started along with the NY DEC web site.

    I hope this helps.

Whiteblaze is my second go to site and has lots of good info as long as you can stand the arguing back and forth.

HF is definitely my no. 1 site but I do frequent the following sites as well:
    www.whiteblaze.net
    www.outdoorsmagic.com
    www.backpackinglight.com

YouTube is another huge source of info and how to's.

I’ve found the website www.sectionhiker.com to be a very helpful. I have been able to learn a lot of very practical information there. As far as trails go if you travel as far south as northern Pa. then I would recommend www.midatlantichikes.com it has maps and trail descriptions of trails all across the state.

Thanks a lot for all the input so far, everyone! Can anyone touch on the additional benefits of being a donating member? I figured I would eventually, but some info here may speed up the process. Anyways, this list of sites should keep me busy for a while!
