The big issue I found was when a thermarest was being used. The Hornet has a seperate area underneath the silk floor (Ivelcro access), however whe used with a 3/4 thermarest I found the mesh sides bunched up considerably in the middle to the extend they were flopped over my legs and upper body - not comfortable. No amount of readjustment (in the middle of the night in a downpour) could fix it. I still haven't managed to fix this issue.
The TW Cornelius tarp is excellent - larger than others I've owned. The hammock / tarp combo weathered a heavy monsoonal storm and downpour with no issues - no leaks etc. However, I won't be using it again - other than a day hang in my backyard - until I can overcome the mesh bunching problem.[/QUOTE]

DavoAnth Just seen your post, do not fully inflate the Thermarest; my full length Thermarest works fine with my 10th wonder if slightly underinflated.

I was looking at that one, and I was actually about to get it, but then I noticed a day later that he added a few more variations. I ended up going for the green 3 layer one. That extra waterproof layer can be a groundsheet, another hammock, and even traps a bit of dead air under the breathable layers. And it can be easily removed for when I don't need it.

I also got the sargasso storm tarp. Has velcro on the ends so you can close it up a bit like a tent. Pretty cool idea, and will make it even better for when I have to sleep on the ground.

Pretty excited for these to show up in the mail. I keep checking the mail tracker every few hours :P

That's essentially what I have, the great thing about the extra or 3rd bottom is that if you use an under quilt or a "Cocoon" (fully enclosing sleeping bag) as I do the 3rd bottom only needs to be secured at the ends to further insulate the quilt, also it prevents dirty wet boots touching the quilt as you slip in to the hammock. (Taking the boots off first)

The Velcro on the tarp does stop wind, rain & snow getting in.

Just got my hammock today! $50 for the bloody duty and tax fees. My god!

It's raining out, but i'm thinking of strapping it up in the backyard to take it for a test run tonight. The feel of the material is almost like silk!

Funny, a few comments here about these being small when they are actually a little bigger than the same type of DD hammocks that seem to get great reviews. Not trying to stir up anything, just an observation.

    Re: Tenth wonder hammocks

Tenth wonder do a variety of hammocks. Most are longer and wider than the DDs. The super xl is exceptional value for money.
