Insulating a WBBB double: A question.

I was contemplating using an old HH Supershelter underpad as summer insulation for my new WBBB 1.7 double.

But it just occurred to me that the open cell foam might crush out and leave essentially no R-value. Makes me think that I might be better with a JRB torso pad.

Anyone ever use a thin OCF pad in a double? Did it squeeze out flat?

Why not Closed Cell Foam in a pad? They are certainly cheap enough, and work pretty well! Even with my 1.1 Dbl and a new River UQ, I will be taking along my CCF pad - in case. If nothing else, I can use it to stand on while taking off/putting on my boots in hammock!

I use a WallyWorld blue pad, the waffle pattern one that is 24"x72" in BB.

    Weights 14oz and cost $12+.

Only down side is that it does not pack small. I roll it up and strap it to the out side of my pack

OCF will not work in between the layers .........
it will work on the outside.. i know someone put a supershelter on a WBBB
but i don't know how well it will work long term

i would use a $8 CCF pad from walmart ....
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold

I'm using a 1" self-inflating air mattress between my double layers. I have a 4' and a 6' for when it's colder. Works well with no UQ. Although I'm about to attempt to make my own UQ
