It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold
IMO if you can get good diagonal lie a footbox is not strictly needed as the hammock spreads wide enough to provide the equivalent. I do not know how easily one could be retrofitted.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

My problem is i can't get comfy in my hammock which is 10' long and 58" wide. i am playing with the ridge line length and it seems to have helped. i have been out hanging 3 times and haven't slept at all any of the nights. i just want to try and make this hammock work for me and thought a foot box might help.

I re-whpped the foot end of my DIY several times to create a looser side there.
It helped a lot once I nailed it.

+1 on rewhipping the ends to try to nail down that perfect lie. Keep working with it.

A footbox does not change the lay of a hammock and that comes straight from the horses mouth, Brandon at Warbonnet. On an netless hammock it just helps keep your feet, bag or quilt from falling out.
Changing whipping or sag are the way to go.

I'm 6', and found the footbox was really useful to keep my feet inside of my hammock. In my 10' hammock, I used a 32x32 right-triangle for my footbox. Works great, but you cannot enter the hammock from that side anymore...
