WB BB 1.1 double or JRB BM Bridge

OK, tried a HH Asym years back, wanted to love it but could not get comfortable. After researching and talking to many tree hangers I am going to give it another try for comfort (and my aging back's) sake.

I have narrowed it to the BB 1.1 double or the JRB. I am a bck sleeper ans 6' 230#. I like to lay flat (that is the one thing I could just not get in the HH). Right now I am leaning towards the BB 1.1, I think I am going to order one and tryi it out. I will just use my GG white lightning tarp to start and get all the other items I need as I get the "hang" of it, pun intended.

So does that sound like a good plan? I would love to hear experienced thoughts.

    Thanks-Lance

Check out the warbonnet sub forum here. I just posted a video on the blackbird. It might give you some idea on the hammock.

IMHO, Ya can't go wrong with either. The only issue some have with the bridge is the extra weight from the poles, but it's a pretty small increase (unless you are a gram weenie ). If it will help, I did a two-part video where I played with both.

i tried both hammocks and i can say that both are very nice hammocks
and both are 2 totally different hammocks

the WBBB 1.1 dbl layer is my "goto hammock" it's the one no matter what i take anymore it's the most flat lay i even got in a gathered end hammock
the foot box is very nice and the shelf is an added bonus that i use and love
if you ask me the WBBB is the best gathered end hammock you can buy hands down

the BMBH is a different animal .... it's a very flat lay and if your a side sleeper it's very nice if your a UL guy you can mod it and knock off alot of weight and the mod is not hard at all there are lots of videos out there to help you mod it
one thing i don't like about the BMBH is if you are a bigger guy there is shoulder squeeze ... it's a very deep bridge hammock you sink into it so getting out at first can be hard but it's not bad... overall i really liked the BMBH it just wasn't for me ... also with a bridge hammock some tarps are harder to use due to the poles on the ends... so keep that in mind

no matter what hammock you pick you will be very happy
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold

Thanks for all the insight. The bridge sounds like it may be a bit tight for me as I have very broad shoulders, I had to switch to a 25" wide pad due to this. The weight is not a big issue comfort is my #1 thing, I will sacrifice weight for comfort any day, my load is light enough, I went UL a few years back but quickly started adding items for comfort back in. I am out there to enjoy, not worry about cutting my shoelaces down. I will buy the lighter item where all things are equal mind you.

I love the bridge that I have, but I almost exclusively sleep on my side. I slept on my back one night at the mahha, and actually did experience shoulder squeeze. If you are a back sleeper, i would go with the BB.

    Kia Kaha,
I also recommend checking out Raul's review of the Warbonnet BB and Traveler. Very thorough and good stuff there. Here's the link to the thread: http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=32920

Thanks, enjoyed the videos and they were a big help. That bridge hammock is just gonna be too narrow for my broad shoulders. BB 1.1 double it is!

I own the 1.1 double and I love it. I have only laid in a couple bmb hammocks and I must say they are a different beast. Apples and oranges. I'm not a big guy and could tell I'd experience a good amount of shoulder squeeze, but I am almost always a side sleeper. That said, they're cool and I hope to own one, one day, but for now I'm all for the gathered end. The blackbird has everything I want, and you can't always loose a few ounces by switch ridge line and suspension without any extra convienence loss.

I also have a hennessy asym and the few troubles I've had with it have been fixed by the blackbird. As always though I suggest going to hangs and asking fellow hangers to let you give them a lay.
