This past weekend three of us went to one of my favorite places to go backpacking , Grand Manan, NEW Brunswick,CA .This island is a 1.5 hr ferry ride from the main land and seems to take you to another world. Grand manan is mainly a fishing community and has a low population so it's a great place for a getaway. The Island has a fantastic end to end back country trail(light house trail) that is 40 kms long and views and access to the ocean at all times but this past weekend we just did a small loop trail as we did not have time for the entire trail. Weather was a bit wet but that was expected so we prepaired for it and made the best of it. Our camp spot was a great surprise to us as we took a wrong turn and ended up at a campsite we didn't know about and it had great views of the ocean beside a brook. I was the only one hanging this weekend and I slept like a baby. I was using my diy hammock, Maccat standard tarp, leigh's summer UQ, golite down TQ and they all worked just like they are supposed to with a night time low of only 40*. We all stayed dry at night but woke to rain so had to pack up and walk back to the ferry in the rain and warm up with fish burgers and fries. I will be going back to this spot again in the summer when the whales start coming because you are able to watch them swim up and down the coast from you camp site and what would be better than hanging in your hammock watching whales Thanks for reading
