    Unhappy Whoopies

So I'll admit it, I'm impatient.

The supplier I was going to pick up Amsteel from locally, no longer carries it in store. Bummer.

So I'm wondering what other cordage, that I'm likely to be able to grab at a shop locally instead of having to order online, to make a set of whoopie slings from.

Got the typical home improvement shops along with REI and Great Outdoor Provision in the area. Anyone have any suggestions as to what to buy and where I could likely find it.

I buy online at either BWDD or AHE. I usually have it in my hands 3 days later at most.

Depending on where you live some West Marine stores carry it in stock.

+1, or even look in the PIF forum, there has been several offered up lately, or the cordage itself. For the time and gas driving around, safe yourself the hassle and support your fellow HF'ers (PIF, BWDD, AHE, Whoopieslings.com, etc)

nothing comes to mind. to be honest, you are best off just ordering from one of the cottage industries on here if you want to get it quick. 2-3 days has always been the average shipping time to get stuff for me. waiting a few days for the proper cord is better than getting something else sooner and hoping it doesn't fail.

I have no idea of the rating, but most water skiing tow ropes are open-braided. You could make whoopies out of them. But to be honest, you'd be much better off just getting some from one of the vendors on here, or Redden.

It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

I also got some from Redden and they delivered fast. I've heard AHE is great, too, as are the other vendors on the forum who sell amsteel. Its worth the little extra wait.

Another vote for Redden. I'm impatient too and ended up wasting two days trying to find it locally and thus ended up going even longer w/out my amsteel than if I'd just ordered it. Super quick getting my order in and even added my HF discount in, after the fact. I'll deal with them again in a heartbeat.
