Hello all. Name's Steve, and I have been kinda lurking here for a little while. I saw a link to this site (HeadChange4u's DIY Hennessy thread) on a motorcycling forum and was instantly interested. I had never actually seen a camping hammock before and it looked like a really cool idea. Since then, I have been working on doing a DIY hammock for myself. I do a lot of motorcycle touring, and a lot of times it's more of a hassle to set up a tent, air mattress, and the whole works, so I thought I would give this a try.

I built my first DIY hammock a couple weeks ago and have been tweaking it since. I will post details and pics in the DIY forum in a little bit. Anyways, I thought I would introduce myself and say hi.

    Happy Hanging!
    Steve

Welcome from just down the road in spokane! I used to live in Missoula actually. I worked at sportsmans warehouse for a couple years there when it was still sportsmans. Careful with DIY thing, it tends to be catchy. What sort of bike do you ride?

I currently ride a 2006 Harley Road King Custom. Previously I had a Honda ST1100 and miss the hell out of it!

I am starting to see that the DIY thing is catchy. My neighbors probably think I am nuts cause I have been outside almost every evening for the past 2 weeks tying things to the trees, untying them, retying them, etc... I still have to work on the tarp, so that's my next project before I move onto the "second" DIY hammock.

    Welcome!

I used to live in Missoula as well, even attended Hellgate.
When it seems like the night will last forever
And there's nothing left to do but count the years
When the strings of my heart start to sever
And stones fall from my eyes instead of tears
I will walk alone by the black muddy river
And dream me a dream of my own

    Hi!

    Another Missoula Motorcyclist here.

We need to go on a ride sometime! Send me a PM. Would sure be fun to hit up Lolo Pass or something. Have 2 bikes, DRZ400-SM and KLR650, trying to sell the KLR after picking up the DRZ.

Have a Ticket To The Moon Double right now. Warbonnet Black Bird on the way. Looking at doing some camping from the bike this summer.

    Welcome.
