Dale Gribble: I'm thinking, "new hammock." For me, laying and swaying in a hammock is like a steady morphine drip without the risk of renal failure.

Dual purpose, I love it. Oh, and the whole thing weighs 14oz.
I was just about to post a chair question, but this one works. When you cut the foam pad, what were your dimensions? Did you cut it like a thermarest and have it go both in the seat section and the back section, or did you just sit on it and leave the back of the trekker chair empty? Is it a standard evazote, gossamer gear type closed cell foam? Thanks for your help.

Yeah, it's a bit pricey but it's the best money I have ever spent. Have lower back problem that prevents me from sitting on the ground or anything hard. I tried out the Jerry Chair in Hot Springs and it sits pretty good. Not sure what they're selling for now.

I actually had the foam cut already - went on Brandon's recommendation to have a small separate piece of foam for foot insulation. But he said it could also double as a sit pad. So I cut it, then happened to look over at my gear and saw the trekker chair sitting there just begging to be reworked. It fit well, but if I had to do over again, I'd cut the foam a little bigger to eliminate a little floppiness. The pad is long enough to fit in the seat and the back, but I suppose you could leave padding off the back because it has those supporting rods in the sides. But the foam is so light, and like I say, I was going to carry it anyway for footbox insulation. This is the foam I bought, but I guess any closed cell foam would work. I have some extra that would probably be enough for one or two chairs. I wouldn't mind sending on so someone could use it.

Maybe one of the cottage industry guys will start to market a superlight chair that doubles as a camp chair/footbox insulation. If so, send the royalty checks straight to the bank for deposit only. hahaha.

The Thermarest Trekker Chair weighs 10.5oz.

With my CCF it weighs 14oz.

There's a Big Agnes that weighs less than 5.25oz? If so those are some ounces I can invest in.
