    It's one thing to frown at rain clouds from an office window. It's another to wake up in a damp tent, pull on soggy, smelly clothes, and hike up and down muddy mountains in the rain carrying a pack weighed down with wet gear.

    +1 on that; still, it is hard to get things dry when the humidity is 95+%...no matter how you treat them- short of heading for the local washateria.....

    Last week I got HAILED on during a thunderstorm on the ridge there just north of Pickle Branch Shelter. That stuff can hurt! Fortunately, it didn't last too long (maybe 30 minutes for the total storm).
