Does someone with these have an informed opinion of the basis for the very conservative ratings? I wonder if those are pretty much a function of the cheap and weak rope supplied with them as an option, and for the weakest link and use, hanging from the hook part.
If the grooves and channels are just used to help keep knots from deforming, to maximize consrtiction under tension, I'd guess that the compressive strength is sufficient to allow their use up to a good fraction of the strength of Amsteel, and be a part of the main suspension.
But, I'm not an engineer. Or a lawyer, either.
