    I need some math help.

So I'm trying to build a tripod. And I only know some of the measurements that I need for it. But I'm stuck on how to figure out the rest.

    Here is what I know.

I would like the top point of the tripod to sit around 4 ft tall and I would like the legs to have about a 2 ft space from one to the next.

What I need to know is, how long of poles will I need and if someone could figure out what angle I need to cut the poles on so they sit flat on the ground, they are a math genius to me.

    Any help is really appreciated.

It will be roughly the square root of 17. I have to get groceries now and don't have time right now to do all the trig for this. That is 17 feet that you need to find the square root of. Find that make your poles about 2 ft. Longer and adjust to perfection. Good luck.

    triangle

Your three poles will have to be 50".
Tha angle on the ground , to which you need to cut the poles should be 106 °.

    I think this is correct.

That's what I got with the basic trig... but that isn't going to get his tripod built. The length will be affected by the diameter, width, or whatever describes what he is using for legs and how he is going to bundle or attach them 4 feet off the ground.

Nice looking stand. Nice, simple design. Does the crossbar attach to the third (un-shown) leg of the tripod?

The cross bar is attached to the lashings of the tripod. I used turtleladys stand. just watching some tv in it right now.
