    Tarp Ridgeline question

Just got my BB 1.1 double last week and slept in it this weekend, really liked it, like the ease of the set up and adjustments. I am thinking of using the continuous ridgeline set up with my tarp. My question is are there any easy adjustable set ups out there for purchase? Not an issue to do it, but just wondering what assesories are available for purchase. I am not a DIY guy, and am not too concerned about money for the right system. Thanks-Lance

That is exactly what I had in mind. Thanks. Does anyone out there use shock cord to guy out your tarp? I have never used the shock cord and am curious how tight a pitch it gives you.

Many use self tensioning guylines which are guylines with shock cord attached. They maintain tension and compenste for the stretch of silnylon so you do not have to keep tightening them. Some people use full shock cord for panel pullouts.

Total set up time for the tarp is a couple of minutes.

I can see how folks using knots for their hammock suspension would like a continuous ridgeline for their tarp - it lets them adjust it instead of moving the hammock. But if you use the strap&buckle system for your hammock, it is pretty easy to move the hammock to fit under the tarp.

A ridgeline does nothing for the strength of Sil-nylon tarp - the material is very strong - stronger than PU-covered nylon.

I do like the small chunk of shock cord for the guy-outs. But "small" is the operative word as otherwise the tarp will bow too far in the wind. As good as it is, Sil-nylon does have a bit of stretch to it when it gets wet, and it is nice to have the guy outs "self-tension" a bit.

OK, so if I want self temsioning guy lines, or a shock cord set up, where do I begin? just get the shock cord and the clips for them right?

I see your point, I can adjust the hammock on either end, so maybe a set up for each side of the tarp instead of the continuous ridgeline, I think they have those sets at one of the links above, I will check it out. Thanks for all the help, I have been backpacking for years, but there is a learning curve to this Hammock thing!

Here is a 'sticky' tutorial on making self tensioning guy lines and there are many others.
