After painting the tarp, I noticed the paint fumes were still present, so I left it strung up under my deck to air it out. I checked it today (after being hung for two weeks or so) and the fumes are gone, and it looks pretty good.
I'm new to the hammock approach and have been using a 8'X10' ground tarp for a make do tarp. I stumbled across this thread and the pattern for a 60" material. So out to the garage to dig up the tail end of the Tyvek house wrap and what do you know just about 18' left on the roll. About 45 min of cutting and taping and I'm in business with my first hammock tarp and it was a DIY none the less.
This is an excellent forum! Thanks hppyfngy for the and pattern. Here is a picture.
The diagonal seam has been no problem whatsoever. If I make another one like it, I might put catenary cuts on it but it isn't necessary. It would help with the small amount of slack in it here and there, but it was never a problem in use.
I'd say two thumbs up.
