Stove Jack for tarp or tent

I go to ground and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

I've noticed a few "stove in a tarp" related threads and thought I'd share mine.
I often camp in a floorless tipi style tent. A Kifaru 8 man. They're awesome but expensive and I wanted a smaller less expensive one. So I modified a Go-Lite SL4 to do my bidding using my Kifaru small stove.

Bought some heat resistant silicon impregnated fabric from TiGoat and got to cutting and sewing.

At this point there was nothing to do but try it with my new stove.

A quick and dirty 4 point pitch just for testing...

Works like a charm and I haven't caught on fire yet! Would be just as easy to do in a tarp and with the stove pipe, it draws like crazy so no smoking even in windy conditions.

    Cheers!

    (don't hate the tent camper)

Your stove jack looks great!!! Nice sewing job. Good to know the source of material when I'm ready to install one on my tent.

No one dislikes a tent camper

    Nice stove you got there!!!!!!

Thanks Stoveman. It's not exactly a backpacking stove but it's great for what I use it for. (cost as much as the whole modified tent)

I looked all over for fire resistant material and Tigoat just had the best price on small quantities that I could find. I'm sure it's available elsewhere but it worked for me...

Awesome setup. I ordered a tigoat stove jack and sewed it in my Golite SL-5. Works awesome with my DIY SS shimstock cylinder stove

OOooh! I wanna hear about a DIY shimstock stove! Got pics or plans? Is it HCH or should I call you Don?

I think if you were clever at bending and had a small brake you could "copy" a kifaru type stove pretty easily too.

Did you cover up your vents in your SL-5? I ended up making some velcro-in vent covers for mine. I can open or close 'em or anything in between...
