    Red River Gorge 05/30-06/01

So I am going to be in the Red River Gorge for a few days starting Monday the 30th.

I plan on starting at the Osborn Bend trail head near the boat launch at the bridge were 715 crosses the Red River, working up through the Clifty Wilderness and then down into the gorge via the Sheltowee. I then plan on doing some loops and some leisurely sightseeing and hanging. Wrapping it all up on Wednesday afternoon.

If anyone wants to link up drop me a note.

Wow, sounds great. I love that area. Please take your camera with you and use it frequently!

RRG is a great place to go backpacking. I need to get backup that way soon.

Sounds like a good hike. Be sure to stop at the swimming hole on the way to the Sheltowee!

You will be getting there after I leave (if I go there this weekend). Have a good time!

Have a good trip. That sounds like a nice hike. Once you get beyond Cloudsplitter it should be fairly quiet, too.

Do be careful at the bottom of Lost branch trl (the connector from OBL to STT) the trail is poorly marked & crossed / paralleled by a number of horse trails. The far end of Osborne dead ends at the road (715). If memory serves, you cross a pretty large stream & bear Left to the STT. Then go Left on the STT towards Bison Way or Right to go North on the STT. Just after turning Left, you cross a small stream to a very sandy area, to your left is a decent swimming hole (as mentioned by BonsaiHiker) on the large creek you have been sort of following. It is MUCH deeper than it looks.
When you have a backpack on, no matter where you are, you’re home.
PAIN is INEVITABLE. MISERY is OPTIONAL.
