I think snake skins work better for tarp setup but they are great. I think the supershelter is also an aweasome system. but some prefer UQs. I think you should look into the wilderness logics tadpole or big daddy tarp. they are wonderful products and in the budget. but for the record I do think arrow head equipment makes great products.

    May I suggest

They are 1/2 an inch shorter than the groundhogs and they don't have holes pre-drilled but they $1 less each and with 5 minutes of spare time you can drill your own holes.

let me take a stab at this....

AHE quilts are really nice... if your looking to go Synth you can't go wrong with his ..temp ratings are on for most users and his quality is also very good

as for the SS ... i had one and i didn't have any luck with it ,it was nothing but problems .. nothing against the SS some ppl love it but some ppl have no luck with it... also if you plan on upgrading your hammock down the line the SS is only made to work with certain HH hammocks... yes there are a few ppl that have got them to work on other hammocks but do you really wanna sit there and play around with it to get it to work ? an UQ you can use on any hammock without fuss ... just something to think about
and the Pad for the HH SS can rip pretty easy if your not careful

as for snake skins i like them for tarps there great for fast setup and rip down
but don't put your hammock and tarp in the same snake skins or your going to be sleeping in a wet hammock

as fot the Hex rain fly for $60 you can't go wrong alittle on the heavy side but for the money it's a nice starter tarp

as for stakes get yourself some easton stakes or Ti stakes...
i'm a UL backpacker but i still like the easton stakes... they work anywhere and there very strong and not too heavy ...

    hope this helps
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold
