    First hang in the rain

I just had my first hang in the rain. I was chilling in my hammock in my back yard, enjoying being off work. When what do I feel? A rain drop! My first thought was to take down my hammock before it started pouring. Then I said to myself, "Hey self, you dummy, this is your chance. Get the TARP!" So I hurriedly strung up my blue wally world tarp in a diamond setup using some white nylon rope from wally world. I got a little splashing on my foot end, but over all stayed nice and dry even when the rain was coming down diagonal.
It was a nice first rain experience. Heavy rain and wind. I had to re stake both sides after wind pulled them out. I only wish my MacCat Deluxe was here already so I could have tested it. I think I could here my Dutch Flyz buzzing around in my backpack with the zing-it and Dutch hook just dying to see some action. Soon my preciouses...soon.

Dale Gribble: I'm thinking, "new hammock." For me, laying and swaying in a hammock is like a steady morphine drip without the risk of renal failure.

Randy : yea but just remember yer roots and where ya come from....you got Hennessy in yer blood son......

I really can't think of anything much more relaxing than being in the hammock while it's raining.

Just tell other people that you're "testing your gear"!!!

Spacecadet - guess you didn't get any of that hail that got a lot of the area?

It was a good rain to test a tarp

Nope, no hail. Yeah, it was a great rain to test a tarp. I just wish I had my MacCat to test. I ordered it the 19th. It said 2-3 week wait. I hope it shows up before the Walls of Jericho hang on the 3rd. How sweet it would be if it showed up Tuesday the 31st (my birthday)! It is actually my present from my mother.
