Eagle scout...but I seem to forget what I don't use often. I use the interwebs for my refreshers. Now days, If I hear/see a knot that looks useful, I google it, then practice it till I know it.

Life's a game. Play HARD!
I was a Firefighter ... you need to know knots if you want to be a firefighter
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold
Boys Scouts, Tree climbers, this forum, and the Internet. Great resources. Thanks.
That which does not kill me has made a grave tactical error.
boy scout handbook to remind me of all the knots i used to be able to tie
Was everyone a boyscout? Jeeze-louise...
Yup.
Although, in all honesty, I barely count--I don't think I even got to Tenderfoot, and you basically just have to have a pulse and the ability to sign your name (I liked the activities, but the awards/advancement weren't all that important to me (I was lazy back then--unlike now )).

You're gonna need a bigger hammock
I learned a couple of basic fishing knots from my cousin/godfather who used to take us fishing when I was a kid. Dad taught me a trucker's hitch. The other few I know I picked up from books or the web. I only recently learned how to tie my shoes from Knotty on this forum, so I am still learning
Funny you should say that! Only last year did I realize that the reason I needed to double knot my laces was because I was tying grannies instead of square knots. It was then that I discovered the quick-tie lace method. Ties a square knot and is super fast. Haven't double knotted since (and it looks super impressive (I always try to draw attention to myself when I tie my shoes now--my kids just roll their eyes (philistines)).

I started learning them as a kid in the Boy Scouts...it soon became a hobby. Most of the knots that I know came from Ashley's Book of Knots. As time when on, I started branching out into more decorative knots as well as functional knots. In fact, I built 2 garages, raising all of the trusses with block & tackle, with quick release loops with a button knot on one end and an eye splice on the other...a primitive version of a soft shackle/nacrobiner, which I learned from HF's. Interesting where learning leads sometimes....
People have mentioned animatedknots.com. Excellent site. For quick reference out in the bush, you should take a look at the fan book that REI sells http://www.rei.com/product/681260/ou...astic-fan-pack. Very cool, and I am thinking of picking one up.
