    help..

I know that if i were patient enough to dig I can find this answer but truth be told im physically exhausted so I am admitting early defeat and asking the amazing folks on here for help. I now own a Grand Trunk ultralight, a single layer DIY hammock, and recently a new designed hammock DIY double layered but I dont know the proper place to attach a ridgeline. My newest hammock lays the best in my opinion but when I attach a ridgeline to the gathered ends and la in it it seems far to close to my face.. help.. i dont want to move it and lose the purpose of having one..
    Thank you in advance..

    Can you lengthen the ridgeline?

I find that the "where" is not as important as the "how long". The general rul of thumb is for the ridgeline to be about 84% the length of the hammock fabric ( a 120" hammock uses a 101" ridgeline). This ratio can be tweaked to taste so to speak.
That being said, I have several GT hammocks as well as a DIY double-layer. I attach the ridgeline to the suspension line (Amsteel) next to the channels.
In other words, on a GT with an end channel:
1.) Attach cinch buckle, rind or biner to suspension loop.
2.)Run the suspension line through the channel
3.) Attach the ridgeline before threading the suspension loop through itself.

There are other ways to do it, but this one has worked for me. FWIW, I also like adjustable ridgelines as it allows me to move the hammock suspension from one hammock to another of a different length.
