So blue ti stakes it is! Thanks to all!
Well if your talking weight, its no issue Ti all the way. The hogs hold way better though. I usually mix up my stakes some Ti and some needle stakes. I never bring the hogs but I do like the MSR needle stakes they hold better than the Ti
I just ordered some of these, haven't received them yet.

just got my Ti shepards hooks and added a fresh coat of blue to them. Thanks.
I went out earlier in the week and the Ti stakes wouldn't hold in the soggy ground. Good thing I had a couple groundhogs to bail me out. I think the groundhogs will have to stay in my pack after until things dry out around here...

I left a bag of 6 of them somewhere in the SNP last month...fortunately one of my buddies was doing the hut thing and I borrowed his tarp stakes. They are my go-to stakes and have been for many years now.

I have been using the Ti Sheppard hooks for a few years now and have only had a issue with them holding about a half dozen times with most of these happening on my last trip! Before the Ti one's I was using the MSR Groundhogs for about 4 yrs at that time I got them on a HUGE sale and just couldn't justify the expense of the Ti stakes! I just got these http://www.zpacks.com/accessories/stakes.shtml (the Vargo Outdoors "Ascent" Titanium Snow Stakes) They are a mix of the holding power of the MSR Groundhogs and the lightness of the Ti Sheppards (well not as light, but close and lighter than the MSR's)!

I hope they work out better for you, Cranky Bear. I found those Titanium Snow Stakes to be very fragile. Although "snow" would give little resistance, pounding these into all but the softest soil would result in a bend and failure of these stakes. They probably call them snow stakes for this reason, but I didn't pick up on that, and found out the hard way.
I had been using aluminum gutter nails from Lowes and before that, the ground hog knock offs from Academy Sports. I just picked up the Vargo TI shepherd hooks and will give them a try.
