    Triangle Thingie Mod Idea

I'm sitting at work thinking about a trip I have coming up in 2 weeks and thinking how I can best attach my PLUQ to my hammock and came up with this idea.

Make a Triangle Thingie and on the two corners, where the shock cord attaches from the UQ, attach a small nylon washer, then insert the shock cord with the cord stopper through the middle of the washer, using the cord stopper as a toggle.

My question is will that be enough support for the UQ?

    See attached pic for visual.

Here is a thread talking about those, is your idea any different from the standard UQ Triangle Thingies?

It should be. It's just a standard PLUQ, right? No additional insulation?

On the other hand, you could buy a pair of those little plastic s-biners and place them in the same spot on the thingies that you have the washers now. Clip the suspension loops through those and you're good to go, even with a heavier underquilt (I added a layer of InsulFleece to mine, and one of those s-biners is holding both sides of the suspension at each end).

    Anyway, just a thought.

Mitten clips work the same way and will be a lot easier to sew. My triangle thingies are just cord with knots in the shape of the material one you have pictured and I attach with mini caribiners, using the cord locks as toggles. Very easy, no sewing, and can make them up in seconds.

The key here is the strength of the cord lock. Some of the smaller cord locks can have a tendency to slip under tension. I haven't had much trouble with the larger ones. I guess thats due the larger spring inside. (My UQ is about 19oz with suspension)

Also, a loop of grosgrain holds the cord locks securely in the same fashion. The cord locks won't slip out easily, so a washer isn't necessary for security.

That should work. I was going to say the same thing as HappyHiker. Grosgrain loops and good solid cordlocks.

    Pseudo thingie

I use a "pseudo" thingie solution which does not involve any sewing. Simply a piece of webbing caught in the knot of the suspension and a loop and toggle connection. Worked for me with both HH explorer and WBBB.

Bingo!! I like this!! Does it really help change the lay of the UQ?

Moving the attachments of the quilt closer together results in a tighter fit. That is the whole idea of thingies.

The webbing loop is just more simple solution.
