I'm drawn to the open country. Its where the world makes the most sense. When I put myself out there I always return with something new.
Great set up. Blood Mtn? is that near the Helen/Cleveland/Blairsville area? We try to make it up to that area of N. GA at least 2-3 times a year to visit my wife's family. would love to do a hammock hang up there sometime while visits the aunts and uncles

Nice Setup, and did you get to see any wildlife while you were there?
If you are interested in getting to the famous Blood Mtn shelter and overlook it sits between Lake Winfield Scott and Neels Gap/Vogal State Park. If you are not into long or tough hikes one of the easiest ways to the top is to park at Lake Winfield Scott and take the Slaughter Creek Trail until it intersects with the A/T. Then keep walking on the A/T. There is a established area to camp around 200 feet after passing the spring. The spring is where you will get your water. The top of Blood Mtn and shelter is a short hike further up the A/T. The total distance from Lake Winfield Scott is barely over 3 miles.
Be aware that bear are active in the whole area so take the usual precautions and hang all of your smellables. I don't know if the bear alert camping restrictions are still in effect so you need to check before going.
Sherpa
The camping ban has been lifted in the area, but yes, we did see some wildlife. A small snake near our campsite, and a bear at Tesnatee Gap.
