VIDEO: Hanging in Silver Lake, Ocracoke

My son, and I were invited to sail to Ocracoke and spend the weekend with several other sailors, anchored in Silver Lake. IronK and I hung our hammocks on deck. One of the principle reasons for going was to meet our friends, Jim, Linda and their daughter Jennifer, who have returned from three years sailing in the Carribean. Jennifer allowed me to video her bunk, which is a fascinating kid's place, with all kinds of kid-collectibles and things she has made!

Here is a short video showing some of the things we did this past weekend.

Ocracoke, May 2011

P.S. The storm that we viewed from not too far away was the remnants of the storm that spawned tornadoes and destroyed Joplin last week. We watched as it went out to sea just south of Ocracoke.

Ha! I was wondering where you would find trees to hang from around Silver Lake. Solution: sailboat masts, of course!

No, I sold our little vessel in 2008, when Smiling Face's disability from MS progressed to the point that she was unable to get on or off the dock. Jennifer and Thing1 used to spend a lot of time together when both families were afloat for a weekend. Those were good times!
