Lash it or Dyna Glide more slick?

I am choosing between the two for a tarp ridgeline and my plan is to have prusicks along the line but want them to hold tight. I like a very tight ridgeline.

Which of these two are more likely to hold a prusick? Also, I can find dynaglide easy enough but Lash it, I only see in spools at places like West Marine for $44. Anyone know where to find shorter lengths?

Oh, another quick one; are both hollow core in case I wish to bury it for other uses?

    Thanks!

Both are very similar but to hold a prussic you are better with a thicker line as the ridgeline

Try searching for Zing-it. It is used by arborist for throw line. It is the same as lash-it except for color (yellow).

This link has zing-it and dynaglide

Dutch has short lengths of 1.75mm Zing-it

I use 2mm Dynaglide for ridgelines. It has a slick coating on it for use by arborists as throwlines however I have used prusiks on it with success. An extra wrap or two is necessary when the rope is new. Over time and with use the coating comes off and the rope becomes more supple.

    Line size

I really wonder about the use of very thin but strong line in all applications. My experience has been that it has drawbacks in handling. Strength is not everything. One also has to be able to handle it.

I prefer something like 3 mm or 1/8 in for things like tarp ridge lines as it is big enough to comfortably handle. That gives 2 mm cord for a prussic loop something to grab. I also like 1/4 in or 6 mm for things like hoisting lines for a bear bag. Much smaller cuts into my hands too much.

The newer materials let us save weight in any size as well as avoid bigger stuff for strength. Handling is another issue. YMMV. ;-)

What type of hardware, if any, are you planning on using. If you are going to use a fig9 then you want something a little thicker. I think 2.2 zing it will be a good balance between cost, weight, and thickness. Dynaglide is overkill IMO. The 2.2 zing it is a lot easier to spice than the 1.75mm. Also whoopiesling.com has some real good splicing and can make an all in one kit and set it up for you.

Dutch, after looking at Stu's single line stuff over at whoopiesling.com, I just saved myself the work and went with his stuff. Thanks for the tip.

I have one of his set ups and they are top notch. You are better off having him do it unless you really like to splice. By the time you bought the line you really wouldn't have saved any money.

    Good choice.
