This was the version I was using back in 2003. It's a Cooke Custom Sewing tarp that I put pole pockets on. I used it with my HH and could pull it back out of the way to stargaze. An extra long line on the foot end of the tarp around the tree hugger and through the bottom slit allowed me to deploy it without getting up and then just secure it to my ridgeline. It worked well but I rarely use my HH now days.

...and there came to be a day, all too soon, that I became aware that I could travel no more on my long journey. Though I did not arrive where I had planned, I believe that here is exactly where I am supposed to be...

Funny that I ran across this today as I was uploading a video to youtube showing the same thing but with a 2x4 hammock stand.

I think I'm going to add a couple of screw in eyes to the feet on the stand that I can just slip the poles into and then use a mini clip to hook the tarp to it so I can eliminate the ropes.

    Smile pole to tarp

The only other part I am concerned about is the metal sleeves that connect the poles. My idea there is to stick the soft side of Velcro around the metal ends. It would not interfere with the poles being inserted together, and it would keep the metal off the tarp. Not sure if I will do that or not. It did not seem to be an issue when I was testing it.

Heres another picture showing the pockets a little better

When I changed over to the aluminum poles, they connect on the inside of the poles instead of the outside, so problem solved. I do like the moleskin idea though.

For those who have bridge hammocks, pole pockets can be added at the ends of the tarp, instead of the center, and intersect with the spreader bar locations.
    Yup, works like a charm

That's a really cool mod, I'm gonna have to try that. My only question is where did you get the pole for the tarp mod? Did you just scab it off an old tent or something?

My experience (one time) with Fibraplex is that they are SLOW!
