I haven't had any issues using them so far. It costs $5 to create an account which allows you to send to a single address. If you upgrade to the premium account it costs $15/month but the shipping cost is about 20% cheaper. The premium account also let's you register up to 5 addresses to ship to so if you can get a few people together you can share the cost. Everything has logging against so that you can easily see what is going on with all parcels going through the account.
i sat here and read this thread and it makes me sad ....
i feel really bad for my fellow Hikers/Hangers outside the US .. you get the poop end of the stick when it comes to shipping costs..
i know when i ordered my SS from HH the shipping was crazy and i live in the US
there are times i sold items and had a few members from overseas ask me if i would ship to them and i feel bad cause most of the time it's $20-40 to ship it to them it might only be a $15 item ... even shipping to canada is crazy from the US ... i will only ship to friends in canada due to cost and all the hoops you got to jump through to ship it .. and i feel bad about it
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold
Dale Gribble: I'm thinking, "new hammock." For me, laying and swaying in a hammock is like a steady morphine drip without the risk of renal failure.
Randy : yea but just remember yer roots and where ya come from....you got Hennessy in yer blood son......
The shipping is crazy at times, but to be honest we are so limited on choice here in Australia and for some strange reason the prices are so extreme that even after having to pay crazy shipping fees it still works out cheaper than buying locally. The exception being some of the local cottage industry businesses such as Terra Rosa Gear that have begun to appear. I'm surprised we haven't seen more growth in this market.
Now that's a bloody good idea!
I've been looking at a couple of items on REI (Their shipping costs to Oz are high as well), wonder if they'll ship to Bongous?
Amazon international is always another option but I've found the items available to Australia are very limited. Anyone out there in Hammock land have any experience ordering items through Bongous from REI/Amazon?...
I likes me 'Ammocks & me Stowves'........
I have used them for purchases from Amazon without issue, including purchases for items that are not supposed to ship outside US due to manufacturer export restrictions. This includes a purchase that was done through Amazon on behalf of a supplier and it shipped as xyzcompany.com instead of Amazon.com. As long as it is a US address they are shipping to they don't seem to mind.
Bongous is just one company providing this type of service. A quick Google will find plenty of others that do the same however I did find that quite a few of them seem to be store fronts for shipitusa.com.
Smartee... does it all just fade away when it arrives...
The Post Office in Canada is a rip off. I recently had to ship something to Northern Ireland for here in Nova Scotia that was about hammock size and weight and the cheapest way to send it cost 50.00 and too 2 months to get there. I don't believe Hennessy is trying to pull one over on you, it is just one of the joys of living up here
My First post on this forum, was looking into the Hennesy hammocks, but the high price of freight to Australia has put me off the Hennesy Hammocks, instead I'm saving up to purchase a Warbonnet
