Thanks for starting this thread! If you really want to make it different keep a list of everyone who doesn't follow the rules and post their names. If you want to make sure people offer up good stuff you might think about adding a rule: If your item isn't claimed within a week you are required to change it or add something to it. Just a thought. Thanks Mancat! I think that people will be very willing to change their PIF up because you can't take another item until your PIF is gone.

I'm a donating member. I have received and paid a number of PIFs.

I will not participate in a Pay It Forward process that mandates rules. To me, it violates the principles of the entire process.

If it really requires all these rules, then it is no longer fun for me.

Just my .02, YMMV, HYYH.

I agree. The whole point is to GIVE. If you attach all sorts of rules to it, it feels like more of a transaction. Why not just sell your crap and buy what you want?

If that's being negative, then I guess I'm negative. I'm not trying to start an argument, just pointing out what should be pretty obvious. But hey, HYOH, right?

1. 10' suspension extension
2. SRL for hammock made of 7/64" amsteel
3. Pair of soft shackles
4. Pair of continous loops
SamyK offered on 6/3 a bios style alcohol stove

Here are the rules:
1. The item offered below is free and I will pay shipping. (CONUS only)
2. You must also "Pay it Forward" by posting something free (must be worth the cost of shipping).
3. Your "Pay it Forward" offer must come with the same terms as this one.
4. 1st to post they want it gets it. PM your address after taking a PIF.
5. You cannot claim a PIF unless you are a donating member.
6. You cannot claim more than one PIF every 48 hours, no exceptions.
7. You cannot claim another PIF until your posted PIF gets taken. (change it up if it doesn't go fast enough)
8. These rules can't be changed or modified throughout the entire thread.

I believe the rules are just to stop greedy people from taking advantage of others generosity. There are stated rules in the other thread. As myteathor said in the other thread if you want to give something away for free just post the item for free in the for sale forum. The point here is to do something nice and have someone else do something nice in return. Once again if you don't like this thread don't participate. If you feel this thread is a bad idea please comment else where and please don't clutter the thread with negativity. Hopefully now that we have the logistics out of the way we can see some more great pif's!

Given the rules can the thread be re-titled to Members Only PIF? That would help distinguish it from the other PIF's that get posted here. Just a thought.

the rules ChrisH posted in thread #18 are a copy of the rules for the original PIF thread, i think he was trying to make a point that alot of people aren't following those rusles, and i don't think they are the ones intended for this thread, as they don't have some of the caveats as the ones he originally listed

i believe his rules in the 1st post are the rules for this PIF
