Sometimes it's just the impulse to ramble ....
Up until this month, I found a way to get out of the house and out in the woods at least one weekend out of every month. It has gotten harder lately due to the kids schedules and other obligations, but I think this summer I may be able to grab someone and hit the woods a bit more often.
I'm always planning for the next place I'd like to go see, I do have a self imposed range of sorts of around a 6-8 hour drive away from home. Any further than that and it's much less likely that I'll be able to work out the scheduling for it. Luckily there are a LOT of places for me to see within that mileage range circle. That's not to say that a trip farther away would be impossible, it would just take a lot more planning.

+1 on this. Don't fear the solo trip, it's your friend. Not having to wait for other peoples schedules to coincide with yours to go hike makes things a lot easier.
My 3 other tricks to getting out more often are:
1) I work 12 hour shifts 3 days a week on a self scheduling program. More days off = more time to hike. I just take the days off that I want in advance.
2) I'm not married. No offense to those who are. 'Nuff said.
3) My girlfriend is a hiker, too.

Quit waiting for your budds and just go.

Hamhocker and I have been out the past 4 weekends. Sure is great when the SO likes to backpack/camp
It ends this weekend though. We have friends coming into town.
Almost time to start kayaking and camping on the lake

There are times that the only way you can do something is to do it alone.
Thanks everyone for your support and suggestions!
I went out the other day for a solo overnight and it was great! I'm looking to obviously now plan more in and have my gear and food ready to go. It's simple but it works!
I like the "just do it" option. So many times i/we create an obstacle in our mind when all we have to do is simply move in the direction of our goals/dreams and Just do it!
mbiramans signature sums it up nicely: "The mind creates the abyss, the heart crosses it."
I feel like the more i practice the more easily i'm able to get out as well.
Thanks again folks!
