If there's two ways to take my comments, assume it's the lighter and funnier of the two.
Great report! I have family in Knoxville. It's a wonderful place to live with so many outdoor opportunities within such a short drive. Looks like a good time was had by all. Great wildlife interaction as well.
Nice trip report. Nice photos. Nice Maps.
Like the site! Subscribed and will have to poke around a bit more.
Looking about, I see you have used the Panasonic TS1. I just bought a TS3. My pics from our last trip came out "OK", but not as exciting as will other larger cameras (to be expected I suppose, and I am still learning the menu/options with the TS3).
What are you using for the pics posted with this trip report? Not the TS1 I suspect...

No, not the TS1, though it occasionally takes spectacular photos. This trip was actually a Canon T2i DSRL with an 18-200mm zoom lens and in some a tripod (Benro Travel Flat Carbon Fiber). I use ultra light gear so when I add in 8-10 lbs worth of camera gears my total weight is still under 35 lbs.

Great trip. I'm leaving Sunday for Siler's Bald then down to Elkmont.
You have nothing to fear but fear itself (and bears)
