I was happy to see the 'thumbs up' icon next to your message this time. So basically it's two hemmed hammock bodies whipped together? That marpat looks cool. Now just make yourself a marpat quilt (next project?) and you'll disappear.

Kinda. I copied the Zhammock for how to sew the two layers.

I sewed the two layers together at the whipped end with a rolled hem to help keep the whipping from slipping off the end if necessary. But so far the cord hasn't moved.

Along the long sides the two layers are sewn together in the middle to keep pad from slipping out. (42 inches sewn together on each side) And then it's hemmed where the layers are not sewn together. 2 openings on each side to slip pad in. (if this makes sense.)

I was hopin' you'd give me yours. I'm inherently lazy.

Yes that's clear, thanks. I wonder if it'd still stay put okay without the centers connected like that. I was thinking of trying a pad in a double bottom in my next hammock. It seems to work well for the Claytor users. Using a pad in my HH did not work out at all.

    Sorry, like it too much
Actually, quilts look a lot harder to make than they actually are IMO.

Yes, I think so. You could always sew it later if you wanted to.

Yeah, know the feeling. Which is why I made this one netless and with a pad holder. Nice to have choices.

Congratulations on your success...I'm glad you've survived it thus far! You and I are thinking alike about the need (maybe that's not really the right word) for a pad-using cold weather system. I've headed in that direction by purchasing a Claytor No-Net, but haven't figured out how to use it yet. I figured that $35 for the No-Net was a cheaper start than staggering up the learning curve of DIY. And my backside is still intact!!!!

Oh ain't you the funny guy. And don't think I didn't consider that $35 No-Net. I just decided to take the high road for once. Love don't come cheap and neither does a DIY, and look what I've learned along the way . . . "Don't forget crashpad!" An important lesson if there ever was one that can translate into so many other parts of my life!

    Nice looking hammock. Congrats!

Looks really good. I like the material. It's a shame we don't have fabric sections in the Walmarts around here.

You don't really need the 2.8 Spyderline for your ridgeline, you could go down to 1.8 and be fine.

I think that extra 1.0 mm may be her "crash pad" preventer.
