Some of the best is supposed to come from Canada.

Be careful about working with an importer. Sometimes they have minimums which are not clearly stated for the average user and you can end up with huge quantities and a huge bill.

I don't know about Canada but I believe customs regulations in the US are very stringent to prevent product born diseases and pests from getting in. If possible I think buying locally or from a known retailer would be your best choice.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Maybe I'm missing the obvious, but it seems that you could take a graduated cylinder or any container of known or pre-measured volume and then tare it on a scale. Fill the container with your down and then re-weigh it. FP = container volume (in^3) / down mass (oz). I guess the challenge would be in determining when exactly the container is "full."

I'm considering performing this test on some down from some pillows I picked up for a steal. If the down is of reasonable quality, I intend to use it in some DIY projects. If not, I'll most likely buy from one of the HF vendors. That way, you know you will get quality down at a reasonable price and not have to wait for it to pass thru US Customs.
