    I'm glad you touched on this point. I have been using forums for a long time. I read them and participate in them in all kinds of topics, ranging from video games to now Hammocks.

    I know how to use the search, but being a n0ob I am not familiar with the lingo. I don't know the names old school hangers call things. This very thing occurred to me the other day, when I searched for sewing machines and threads titled "thread injector" kept popping up. I used to sew for a living and I never heard it called that so I was a bit bewildered at first.

    I think the mods do an amazing job. 'cept maybe cannibal

    I also think that passing along good info is the greatest thing about this site. (that and the Jamison)

    Advising a noob that the "search" function is available is as useful info as I know of. It is the same as telling a noob what type of fabric to use, or where to buy it.
    Good info and where or how to find it.
    If my suggesting the use of the search function offended anyone..I apologize. It was never meant as cruel, just sound advise on how to properly use the forum.

    Here is the truth Mancat, folks drink too much alcohol and get on the internet for entertainment. As men and some women get older they get more into a practicing licensed curmudgeon. Wrap the two together and you have a mad demographic poser.

    Not a theory but fact....
    There was an Old Man with a owl,
    Who continued to bother and howl;
    He sat on a rail, And imbibed bitter ale,
    Which refreshed that Old Man and his owl

    "Thread injector" goes back to the earlier forum era. We got to joking around how sewing machine sounds kind of girly and can put guys off the idea. But call it a power tool like a gear driven power thread injector and you can get it work. It kind of stuck.
    I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

    "Bless you child, when you set out to thread a needle don't hold the thread still and fetch the needle up to it; hold the needle still and poke the thread at it; that's the way a woman most always does, but a man always does t'other way."

    The trick is to cut out the off-topic negativity without impeding the ability to give and recieve opinions. Some people have negative experiences with gear and/or situations, and I want to be able to hear those opinions. For example: "I won't buy ________ because the customer service is terrible" or "I appreciate when people don"t ________ because it adversely affects ________"... I want to hear that, so that I do not go down that road.

    However, things such as: "I won't buy _______ because ________ is a pain in the you know what to deal with" or "You are an idiot for doing________ because the real way to do it is____________" need to be nudged out.

    I think basically if something goes against the forum policies, it should be removed. If not, it should not. That is why the rules were made right?
