    First Hang in PA

Sup guys, I finally got my first hang in last night at Nockamixon state park in PA. Great night/day but my buddy only snapped one goofy picture of me.

Also if any of you have been active in those "indoor" hanging threads you've probably seen me asking a ton of questions, and when I got home the first thing I did was set up the hammock in my bedroom to see what damage it would cause.

Any good spots to hang at CBP - perhaps Ashburn Alley?

what an idea! I was there on Monday to see the Phils/Dodgers, I'll bet any sports arena has hundreds of spots to hang from!

Way to get out there Joe! A few things I noticed when watching your vid:
I'm surprised your suspension around that closet bar held. What size screws are you using? Second, an amplifier cable as a toggle? You are a brave soul.

Oh yeah, the last thing I noticed "wrong" was that Flyers mask on your door... eewww

awww i just had to live through a weekend of penguins fans yelling obscenities at me and now i have to deal with anti-flyers sentiments here?!? is no place safe for a flyers fan!???

the cable that i'm using is actually pretty heavy duty or else i wouldn't trust it, but i'm a long-time musician and i know that those cables have stood up to a hell of a lot of punishment at my own hands (and feet) so i'm not too worried about it.

in fact i was thinking about unscrewing the casings and taking them out with me but i think i'm gonna order some toggles from whoopieslings.com when i order my whoopies because while the giant unwieldy hard-to-untie-knots-from 6mm climbing rope that came with my hammock works it's just too bulky and i think i could actually shave half a pound off my setup with the whoops.

also, one fun to mention fact about the marlinspike hitch is that if you have mischievous friends they'll come over and snap the sticks you have as toggles while you're sleeping causing you to wake up rather abruptly. this happened to me.

about the bar in my closet: it looks like it's screwed into a 1x4" board that goes horizontally across the two studs that frame out the closet. the board itself looks only to be hammered in. generally it doesn't look very secure or sturdy, and when i put a little pressure on it with my hands it seemed like it was going to rip out of the wall, however i think the angle of my hang is actually what's dispersing my weight and allowing me to hang. I actually slept a full 8 hours last night without any problems. No creaks, nothing. I'd like to research the angle equations more to see exactly how much pressure i'm putting on the bar.
