    Mobile hanging stand

Just came across these hanging hammock chairs that attach to the trailer hitch on your truck. They sell just the stand separately for around $150. Not sure about how the spacing would work out, but if you are car camping, I think you could back up to any tree, and have a ready made hanging spot for 2 hammocks. I might have to think about this.

That looks pretty interesting, and with a little ingenuity, one could potentially rig it up to accommodate a single hammock laying perpendicular to the vehicle...
    Where did you find it?

I found the manufacturers website Here, but you can find the item cheaper elsewhere on the net.

Sorry for not including the link. I posted from my phone and had enough trouble just inserting the picture. I actually found it here:

    http://www.hayneedle.com/product/ham...itchstand1.cfm

Prices quite a bit less than on the manufacturer's site.

I like your idea of hanging a single hammock. You would probably need to support some type of horizontal beam (wood 4x4 or a length of black pipe) from the stand to extend the hang points far enough for a single hammock. Might work, although I'd be pretty nervous with that big beam hanging over top of me while I slept.

I got this set as a wedding gift. Have never used the chairs nor used for hanging, but I have used to skin animals in camp. Very sturdy and well made. I think it would work well for hanging, but I my truck they are too high.

Hey cool. How about hanging a ridgepole (a la TurtleDog-ish stand) from the two points?

edit: Oops; as Bob suggests above.

Stick a 6' hunk of pipe over the ball/hitch and secure the top back with straps to your truck box/cab.
